Youth Dance Classes
At Artistic Dance Unlimited we offer dance classes for ages 3-years to adult from beginner to advanced skill levels. We take great pride in our ability to teach all disciplines of dance at the most advanced levels. Ballet is the backbone of all dance forms; however, we feel all disciplines of dance are of equal importance.
Adult Dance Classes
Our Adult dance classes consist of a one hour class which will alternate in six week sessions of Ballet, Jazz, and Modern. This format enables the recreational adult student the ability to experience three forms of dance. Each dance discipline is distinctly different in style. Learning the technical aspects of all three dance forms will provide an excellent overall workout for the adult dancer. Following this one hour combination class, we will also offer a 30 minute Tap class. This class will be geared to the Beginner-Intermediate level. This is a wonderful class that focuses on basic tap fundamentals, rhythm sequences, and tap combinations.
ADU now offers Hip Hop for the adult dancer. Hip Hop is great cardiovascular exercise as well lots of fun. The classes will consist of a warm-up, body isolations, and fun, energetic combinations. The Hip Hip class is designed for adult students to have fun while exercising and improving their flexibility and overall health.
Jazz
A technical class which combines the beauty of traditional "Broadway Jazz" with the ever-changing styles of today. Each fun and challenging class consists of full-body warm-up, isolations, traveling exercises across the floor, turns, and upbeat combinations.
Tap
This classic dance form can be learned by even the youngest dancer and is an excellent form of exercise and recreation for adults as well. Classes emphasize rhythm, coordination, speed, style, clarity of sounds.
Ballet
Ballet training is the backbone of almost any dancer. This unique process, which gradually develops the body in a beautiful manner unlike any other physical activity, has been proven to be beneficial to all dance forms. Each of our ballet classes consist of various exercises including barre, center placement, adagio, allegro, port de bras, and turns.
Pointe
Most female ballet students are eager to approach this beautiful form of classical ballet; however, pointe class may only be taken by recommendation of the instructor, as there are many factors to be considered. Those who are enrolled in pointe class must also be enrolled in at least one ballet class.
Lyrical
Lyrical dance is a combination of classical ballet and jazz techniques. The movements are slow and controlled; therefore the class will have a technical format. In order to take lyrical, students must be enrolled in either ballet or jazz technique classes (both are recommended). Lyrical dance is an expressive form which interprets the lyrics or theme of the music.
Hip Hop
Hip hop dance refers to dance styles, mainly street dance styles, primarily danced to hip hop music, or that have evolved as a part of the hip hop culture. Hip hop dancing is evolving in many different directions today, heavily influenced by the evolution of hip hop music and its popularity in media. As hip hop dancing is such a broad genre, the teacher has much freedom and room for personal interpretation, and often mixes various styles freely, even mixing them with other dance forms such as jazz.
Contemporary
Contemporary dance is a fusion of free movement with a mix of modern and classical dance techniques. The general focus in contemporary dance is on dynamics, inner core strength, exploring height levels, and spacial awareness. Based on the techniques of Martha Graham and Jose Limon, the contemporary classes will consist of floor work, improvisation techniques, progressions, and center exercise.
